Finished HSK 3? HSK 4 is where the intermediate stage of the new HSK 3.0 exam begins. What changes at level 4?

Up to level 3, you mostly learn to talk about yourself and your day. At level 4, you learn to build an argument: give your view, support it and mention the other side. That needs new sentence patterns.

What you learn:

• Build an argument with 首先……其次 (first … then) and 一方面……另一方面 (on the one hand … on the other hand)
• Correct a point with 不是……而是 (not … but)
• Draw a conclusion with 既然……就 (since … then)
• Add emphasis with 连……也/都 (even …)
• Say that something is not as good with A 不如 B

When you finish 4A and 4B, you can follow longer texts and explain in Chinese what you think and why.
